A Place to Be's Same Sky Project: "The Worst School Assembly EVER"

This new 50-minute musical with its ironic title, disguises the mission, to leave the teen audience feeling like they just experienced the best school assembly ever. The newest school production of The Same Sky Project will focus on self-awareness, mental health wellness, and to gain broader perspectives, promoting empathy and acceptance for themselves and others.
Metropolitan Jazz Orchestra FT. Jim Carroll
Artistic Director and alto sax virtuoso Jim Carroll- whose long and illustrious career has included performances with the likes of Michael Jackson, Nancy Wilson, Maynard Ferguson, Billy Taylor, Woody Herman and His Thundering Herd, and the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra- leads this swinging orchestra in its first ever field trip performance at the Hylton Center, introducing students to jazz music and the jazz masters.
Songwriting Series for Military Children
This popular program will return in 2019 and 2020 as a now signature component of the Veterans and the Arts Initiative. Participants will partake in a three-part songwriting workshop with no prior musical experience necessary, culminating in a performance during Celebrating Veterans and the Arts Day 2019.

The Hylton PAC knows first-hand just how dedicated and self-sacrificing the teachers of Prince William Public School, Manassas City Public Schools, and the Manassas Park Public Schools are. To show our appreciation, we will continue engagements with teachers that include events and visits to each of the school districts
Broadway Princess Party Musical Theatre Workshop

Three of Broadway's most beloved Disney Princesses will lead a musical theatre workshop for high school students in conjunction with the Hyltn Presents Broadway Princess Party performance the prior afternoon. Students from Prince William and Manassas/ Manassas City will be selected to participate in this hands-on musical theatre intensive with a Broadway actor, while additional students will participate by observation.
PAK has funded two scholarships for Technical Bootcamp, a program offered by the Hylton Performing Arts Center that allows students to go behind-the-scenes of technical production. Students learn stage lighting, carpentry, rigging, and many other technical skills.
