A Place to Be: Ariba and the Mountain
Ariba and the Mountain, created for middle school students, is the story of a princess in a wheelchair who is strong, innovative and beautiful but feels like she is missing something because she is not like everyone else. The show focuses on self-love, acceptance of differences and empathy for others.
Classical Brass Performances
Classical Brass will make its Hylton Performing Arts Center debut for an April 2019 field-trip performance for middle and high school students. This nationally-recognized ensemble will perform specialty works for children’s concerts including Teddy at the Throttle, 1917, the iconic silent movie that many of us are familiar with as it includes the famous scene with the heroine tied to the railroad tracks.
Teacher Engagement and Appreciation
Performing Arts for Kids knows first-hand just how dedicated and self-sacrificing the teachers of Prince William County Public Schools, Manassas City Public Schools, and the Manassas Park Public Schools are. To show our appreciation, we would like to ensure funding which would be dedicated to both continued engagement with teachers as well as appreciation.
Songwriting Workshop- Veteran and the Arts Initiative
PAK is sponsoring the Songwriting Workshop Series for the Veterans and the Arts Initiative with the Hylton Performing Arts Center. This three-part series of music and songwriting allows military children and teenagers to create their own song during the series and share it at Celebrating Veterans and the Arts at the Hylton Center on November 10.
PAK has funded two scholarships for Technical Bootcamp, a program offered by the Hylton Performing Arts Center that allows students to go behind-the-scenes of technical production. Students learn stage lighting, carpentry, rigging, and many other technical skills.
For more information on how to apply for a PAK scholarship to these bootcamps, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 703-993-9344.
